Discover the extraordinary healing power of the Bulbine frutescens, a versatile succulent that belongs in every household's garden (in my case, even the bathroom). Also known as the burn jelly plant or cat's tail, the leaf sap can be applied directly to minor wounds, burns (including sunburn), rashes, insect bites (yes, mosquito bites will stop itching), dry cracked lips, fever blisters and general itches or skin irritation. Thanks to its potent antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties, the plant's leaves can also be brewed into a soothing tea, delivering comforting support for sore throats, persistent coughs, and even mild arthritis symptoms.

Good to know: Easy to grow, spreads easily, waterwise and indigenous. Prefers full sun but does well in shade too. Bees and pollinators love it!  Best time to plant is September to November, and March to May, but I think they pretty much grow whenever they want.
